I am a certified Health and Wellness Coach and Registered Nurse. Working in health care and my own personal health journey has allowed me to witness what happens when our wellness is out of balance. Total wellness begins with living your life and taking care of yourself from the inside out. My professional as well as personal experience has taught me the importance of taking care of our bodies by living a healthy lifestyle. This helps to reduce our risk for chronic illness. Our population is getting older and I feel there is a need to help people change the direction of their health, which is not affected only from the foods we eat, but from other parts of our lives.
I have always viewed myself as someone who was healthy. However, with my food choices, an out of wack digestive system ,skipping meals,long hours at work, and not enough exercise I discovered 5 years ago I had hashimotos. Autoimmune diseases such as hashimotos are usually linked to a combination of genes, and an outside trigger to develop the disorder, such as viral, or environmental. So, it is important to have a strong immune system. How can you have a healthy immune system? You can start with your gut. The gut plays a large role in our immunity, hormone regulation, blood sugar and the health of our brain. The gut is referred to as the " second brain", because it has more neurons than the spinal cord. The gut is also like a gatekeeper. It determines what enters your body from the outside world. It determines what gets let in and what should be kept out. My education, and healthy journey has equipped me with knowledge in the gut microbiome, Functional Nutrition Health coaching, and disease prevention . My hashimotos diagnosis has spear headed me to address the gaps that were missing to heal my body. I have improved my own gut health as well as formed sustainable healthy eating habits, and improved my thyroid health. It has opened up the world of food to me. I have been introduced to so many favorable recipes using a wide variety of spices. I want to help my clients to make lifestyle changes to heal their body to get real and lasting results to feeling energized, and most importantly to create happiness to prevent illness and disease.
It is favorable to our health to keep a balance in each area of our life as well as the foods we eat. If you do not take care of your total health, you can create an imbalance which can lead to chronic illness.What helps create balance in one aspect of my life is dance. Dance is not only fun, but is a whole body workout for the mind and body. Dance for me equals joy. It is now one of my passions. It has definitely increased the happy in my life.
